God’s Children Write Back

The Bike Show
As part of the ministry of House of the Risen Son, we do an annual motorcycle show at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. The inmates really appreciate the bikes, and this eventlifts their spirits and, hopefully, also their morale. Each Year we build relationships with some of the inmates, which leads to further visits, and often we get to share our faith. On one visit I was discussing the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous with a man and what the Bible says regarding forgiveness. On my next visit I took a copy of the Serenity New Testament, and I left without it. On a future visit I found out that this inmate was sharing his Bible with the other men. The inmates are there for crimes from fraud to murder. Some are gang members, and others are there just because they did something they shouldn’t have done. Many of them have never heard a personal story of Christ which they feel relates to them. As a rider, I can give them another view of the Christian faith. I am often surprised as to who will take a Bible and read it when they realize that it’s free—nostrings attached: Jesus, inmates, bikers and Bibles!
Please support LifeLight Ministries, pray for those who distribute
Scriptures, and always carry a few Scriptures with you to give away
when God gives you the opportunity.—Chuck Sheridan (House of the Risen Son)

Children accepting Christ at camp
I was the speaker one week in July this summer at Steeprock Bay Bible Camp. When children accepted Christ as their Saviour we offered them a New Testament from LifeLight Ministries. One little boy accepted Christ early in the week. He couldn’t read that well, so he would come and sit with me and read his Bible instead of going to archery or craft class. Throughout the week more and more campers were found in their bunks in the evening reading their new Bibles. It was really neat to see children hungering to know God’s Word – youth pastor

Thank You
Thank you LifeLight Ministries for the Bibles you provide for prison ministry. We use them in chapel services so that we are all on the same page (pun intended!). The inmates use them to do Bible studies in their units. Many have recently read the book of Proverbs, finished the Bible studies and have received a certificate. One evening several inmates were sitting in the middle of the hallway. With their Bibles open, they were reading and helping each other to finish a Bible study I had given them in chapel earlier that day. The next day they shared with me how they enjoyed reading their Bibles and working together to learn and earn a certificate .May the Lord bless those who provide these Bibles and pray for prison ministries!—Mrs. R.

From Behind Bars
I am an inmate and first heard about The LifeLight New Testament through my ex-girlfriend. She is struggling in her life at this time and told me that she doesn’t understand the Bible when she reads it. She was asking me if I could get her this book because it gives a clearer understanding of who God is and about His Son, Jesus. It would be greatly appreciated if you good people at LifeLight Ministries could send her this New Testament. —Kenneth

Kids camp – hungry for Jesus
Our policy is to give Bibles to campers who have no Bible or those who come with translations too difficult for them to understand. Each Bible has the camper’s name in it, and each counselor writes a verse to the camper. One week, after the last chapel service, one of the boys started to cry. When the counsellor asked him why he was crying, the boy replied, “Camp is over now, and I have to give my Bible back.” When he was assured that the Bible was his to keep, he broke out into a huge grin of relief–this was the first Bible he had ever received! Other campers asked their counsellors to show them where the stories were found that they used in their devotion times, and others marked their memory verses in their Bibles – Camp director

Planted Seed
I am sitting in my doctor’s waiting room and found a copy of the LifeLight Bible. I would like to have a copy of the LifeLight New Testament. It is perfect for an easy read and to understand. – Anonymous

Another life, living for Jesus
A friend of mine gave me this Bible which fits right in with the New Believer program that I’m doing. As a “baby Christian” I have a lot to learn and this Bible is a great tool for me to start studying the Word of God. – Anonymous

Needing Change
Hi, I am really going to try and live for the Lord and stay out of prison. It is draining the life from me and it is not how I want to live. I have read the Bible from given to me from LifeLight front to back this time. The New Testament is certainly a breath of fresh air. – Struggling

Meeting Jesus on a Boat
I borrowed the Living LifeLight NT from a library on a ship. I enjoyed reading it so much that I was tempted to take the Bible from the ship, but I know that was wrong. I did not take it. When I returned home, I wrote a letter to your ministry and you sent me the Bible. Thank you very much. – Nita

Never too old to Share
I just got your LifeLight newsletter; thank you very much. There were tears in my eyes when I read some of the articles. I thank God for folks like you who are spreading the Gospel message to
those in need. God bless you and your work! I was 90 years old on April 27. The Lord has blessed me richly, and I thank Him daily for His grace. I am still in my own home, caring for my own needs; the Lord knows for how long. Before Christmas I had a severe fall, but God spared my life, and I received only a broken nose. I still marvel today and feel I was spared for a purpose that only He knows. I love my children, but I feel I have failed them, especially my youngest son, in many ways. He used to attend church with us, but only because he had to. Once he was on his own and married, he told me he did not believe in God—nature was his god. He refuses to speak about God or read any book on Christianity. He is honest and lives a cleaner life than many so-called Christians. Please pray for him and for me that I will be used of the Lord for His honour and glory in any way He wants before He takes me home. My great-grandson, who is eighteen, is not strong in his faith and will be on his own when he is out of school. I am praying for his salvation, that he will have Christian friends and that he will be guided into the right vocation. I would appreciate a New Testament that would be suitable for him. (His parents are divorced.) The enemy knows his time is short, and we all have to guard ourselves against his sly temptations. Young people especially need much prayer.
