Transformed Bus Ministry
(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.
A couple of Winnipeg businessmen who have a passion for Winnipeg’s youth took an old school bus and transformed it into a mean-looking street machine. The operator, Andre Peters, drives around Winnipeg and southern Manitoba, wherever youth congregate - skate parks, youth hangouts, beaches, Sunday night cruise nights on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, car shows etc. This bus is equipped with two plasma televisions, video games, a huge sound system and a light show.
The point was to have something that attracted youth, something for them to do for free and feel accepted and safe. Youth are invited to be on the bus, allowing them to hang out, play some video games and have fun. For many kids, this is the only safe place they have. They come from abusive homes, poor, rough neighbourhoods and really haven’t experienced true acceptance in a healthy environment. During their time on the Transformed Bus, Andre and his team have a chance to share Christ with them.
Andre walked into the LifeLight office recently and was blown away by all the different Bibles geared towards youth that were available. We got to talking and we are excited to partner with him in getting Bibles to many of these kids. Andre knows that many times they will only get one shot with a lot of these kids and teens so if they can put a Bible into their hands that they can relate to, that is a huge seed planted in their lives and in their homes.
Andre Peters and his team on the Transformed Bus reach out to thousands of kids! We need your help in getting Bibles to kids and youth in our city. Please contact our Winnipeg office and let us know that you would like to make a donation for TRANSFORMED BUS.
First Nations Northern Distribution
Acts 8:1 You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes to you, then you will be my witness in Jerusalem. You will be my witness in Judea and Samaria. And you will be my witness from one end of the earth to the other. (NIRV Version)
LifeLight has been dedicated to reaching out to our First Nations Communities with the Bible for nearly 13 years. Peter Loewen, and now Wayne Herrod, has been driving all over northern Manitoba, flying in where needed, developing relationships with the Chiefs and getting the Bible into the communities.
With a lot of prayer, God has been opening doors in many reserves. One of the chiefs in a northern community reserve which now has almost the entire community serving the Lord has said to us “The Bible is the only thing that has made change in our community - it has changed our lives”.
Tens of thousands of Bibles have been distributed in homes, schools, and recreation centers of these communities. This is an ongoing project and we need your help. We also assist other ministries who run camps for the kids in these northern communities. These ministries share Christ with the kids and do crafts, games and other fun activities. They want to be able to leave a Bible with all of them because, for many, this is the first time they have EVER heard of Christ and SEEN God’s Word.
If you would like to be a part of this ongoing project by making a donation, please email us or give us a call. Reaching these communities takes prayer, commitment, time, resources and money. Please consider this as you make a decision on how you would like to help this project.
Bibles into the prisons of MB and Ontario
"Remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them. And remember those who are treated badly as if you yourselves were suffering." Hebrews 13:3 (NIRV)
The Need - Within every country, there are large groups of people imprisoned because of violating the law. In Manitoba, There are thousands of men and woman imprisoned in Federal or provincial prisons, or in local jails. Most are confined for crimes they committed, but others are being held innocently for a crime they didn't commit. Most of these men and woman committed these crimes due to addictions, gang life and growing up without their parents’ love.
Prisons have very small budgets for Bibles, therefore, we have committed to providing the Chaplains and volunteers with thousands of Bibles so that every prisoner has the chance to accept Christ into their life. We have a heart for these inmates and so do the Chaplains working directly with them.
Each inmate has a choice to spend time with inmates who are bad influences or on positive activities including Bible study. For many, their imprisonment will provide an opportunity to meet the Lord personally. Chaplains and volunteers are involved regularly with prisoners to help meet their spiritual needs and prepare them for a better way of life. God's Word of love, salvation and forgiveness is the only remedy for their present and future life. In all prisons, there are more inmates than Bibles--leaving a void for many to experience God. What an injustice for those wanting to change their lives, but can't have a copy of God's Word!
The Solution

Make the easy-to-read New International Readers Version(NIRV) Scriptures available to inmates, chaplains and volunteers. Since the majority of inmates experience reading and learning disabilities, they need a text that will not frustrate them or discourage them. The NIRV is aimed at a third grade reading level so it can be understood by those with disabilities as well as those with little or no Christian background.
We have been told by those ministering to inmates that the text of the NIRV makes their work easier because they spend less time defining words and explaining concepts. Your donation will make available these much needed easy-to-read Bibles for those desperately needing the Good News!
Having my own prison ministry in Stony Mountain Penitentiary, I am able to see firsthand how the guys that are imprisoned react when they see that there is a Bible that is specifically geared towards them, filled with testimonies of other inmates who have found Christ in prison. It’s very powerful and it works - they are responding in huge ways and are turning to Christ.
If this project tugs at your heartstrings, please pray for the Bibles that go into the prisons and for the people that receive them. If you would like to donate towards this project, please email or call us and we will direct you.
